My Profile
About Me
My name is Sarah Lowen. I was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, but I moved to Creston, British Columbia when I was two-years old, and that is where I grew up.
After I finished high school, I undertook my post-secondary studies at Vancouver Island University (where I studied music), the University of Victoria (where I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in English in 2012), and the University of British Columbia (where I graduated with my Bachelor of Education: Secondary Years in 2016).
I currently teach at Lach Klan School, and independent First Nations School in the village of Kitkatla, British Columbia.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading (my favourite author is Louis de Bernieres), playing video games (I particularly enjoy Dragon Age and Mass Effect), and spending time with my family when I visit them during school breaks.
I excel at baking. I enjoy trying new recipes, but I also have some that have been passed down to me from my mother and grandmothers that will always cherish (I got my recipes for shortbread and sugar cookies from my grandmother, and my recipes for zucchini cookies and zucchini cake from my mother).
Something that I feel that I need to work onis staying organized. I have read somewhere that being disorganized is a sign of intelligence, but really, it just makes certain aspects of my job stressful that would be much easier if I was better organized.

My Intelligence Profile
1. Complete the "Multiple Intelligences Questionnaire.
2. Indicate the two or three "intelligences" that you scored the highest in. Beside each intelligence that you have chosen, provide a brief summary of what each means (Google it!):
-What you are generally good at.
-Things you enjoy.
-At least one example of a career that YOU are interested in that fits each of the intelligences that you chose.

Intrapersonal IntelligenceIntrapersonal Intelligence refers to how "self-smart" a person is, and the capacity to understand oneself, thoughts, and feelings. This also refers to a deep understanding of the "human condition" and the"big questions" about the meaning of life and the universe. People with a strong intrapersonal intelligence may be shy, but are also very "self-aware" and "self-motivated."
A career that interests me that fits my strong intrapersonal intelligence is counselor or therapist. These career paths interest me because I enjoy helping people. |
Musical IntelligenceMusical Intelligence refers to a persons ability to understand music, including pitch, rhythm, timbre, and tone. This allows a person to understand, appreciate, and create music. People with a strong musical intelligence are usually singing or drumming to themselves and are quite aware of sounds that others may miss.
A career that interests me that fits my strong musical intelligence is songwriter or music composer because I enjoy writing music and investigating how different sounds and textures can go together. |
Verbal LinguisticVerbal Linguistic Intelligence refers to the ability to think in words and use language to express one's ideas. Someone with a strong verbal linguistic intelligence will have an easier time understanding the meaning of words and arranging the order of words in complex sentence structures; they will also have strong "meta-linguistic skills" (the ability to reflect on our use and understanding of language).
My current career (English teacher) fits my strong verbal linguistic intelligence because I love reading, writing, and "playing" with language. |
